THE 5TH “FIGHT-4-FITNESS” SEES THE LARGEST PARTICIPATION TO DATE AT SUNSET PARK

LAS VEGAS (March 10, 2020) The Floyd Mayweather Jr. Foundation (TFMJF) returned to Sunset Park for its 80’ & 90’s 5th Fight-4-Fitness event at Sunset Park which featured a 5K race, 1K family fun run/walk, and Community Day. The event welcomed new & returning guests and vendors bringing in the largest turnout the event has seen since its inception in 2015.

Blazin’ Ones Coach Robert Bolden and 2018 & 2020 recipient was on site and couldn’t help but notice the large turnout, “I recall 2018 being a big event, but there are more track teams out here this year and games for the kids. This is a wonderful blessing to see us out here all uniting for a bigger cause.

The Floyd Mayweather Jr. Foundation united runners and families inside Sunset Park to help spread health & fitness awareness in a fun and interactive environment. The festivities were kicked off by a yoga stretch session to loosen the runners up courtesy of Bluma Bodies then the 5K runners lined up and were off! Following the 5K race was the 1K family fun run/walk where kids of all ages lined up for a route just over half a mile through the park and were awarded participation medals at the finish line. Children under the age of 12 gathered together and made teams for the Scavenger Hunt while the race was happening, and was challenged to work together to find hidden items all across the event area.

“Cash Flow” Diaz, a highly touted decorated boxing amateur, finished 2nd in the 5K race said, “I have a fight coming up in March that I’ve been training hard for, but I was especially training for this 5K. I knew there would be a lot of track teams out here and that the competition would be tough. I finished in just under 18 and a half minutes and even did a sprint to the finish line. I’m really happy with my time. Fight-4-Fitness is nice, the kids really come out and have a great time on a beautiful Sunday like this and it’s an honor to participate I hope they keep this event going.”



Former WBC Champion, Shawn Porter, was also in attendance and returned for his second Fight-4-Fitness, “It was fun, says Porter. “I feel like there’s more competition out there. The first year was easy, but this one was a bit more challenging. It was great to see everyone out there cheering their runners on, and us runners motivating everyone in the race to keep going. It’s a wonderful experience!”



Returning sponsor and founder of Forgotten Not Gone, a non-profit organization that helps veterans overcome obstacles to reintegrating into society by getting them physically active by riding special recumbent trikes, was more than thrilled to return to Fight-4-Fitness for the 5th time. “We’re out here having a great time with our vets and the children, we’ve been doing this event since the first year, and we’re honored that Floyd Mayweather Jr. Foundation continues to have us. We have an entire fleet of trikes. We’re just happy to have people out of the house and getting active. It’s really a great event for the entire family.”



After the races concluded, all race participants were ushered into the main Community Day park area for an award ceremony to recognize the 5K race participants. Community Day featured breakfast & lunch from our sponsored food vendors, Munch Box, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Nevada Chicken Café, and Real Water who kept guests hydrated all day long. The event also featured interactive photobooth from 4 Evr Foto, rides in Velomobile Recumbent trikes courtesy of Forgotten Not Gone, games & physical activities, a boxing ring provided by LV Ring Masters, flag football, raffles & more. Notable Vendors in attendance we’re Real 103.9/iHeart Media, The Box Fan Expo, USATF, Remnant Ministries, and a merchandise booth courtesy of the Money Team & Mayweather Sports. The event was emceed by Ramblin’ Ralph Velez who kept guests entertained all day alongside DJ D-Miles who provided a variety of tracks taking you back to the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s era. Guests we’re awarded prize packs filled with items from our sponsors Showtime, Mayweather Fitness Club, Gravady, FlipNOut Xtreme, and Pole Position for best costume, most creative, and Flag Football winning teams!

Fight-4-Fitness was concluded with a track team recognition award ceremony celebrating the USATF track teams who brought in the most participants for their team. A total of 7 teams participated and the top teams were awarded a cash prize. Las Vegas Gators came in 1st place, Team Hurricane finished in 2nd, 3rd place was Las Vegas Blazin’ Ones, in 4th Vegas Valley Track Club, and Nevada Storm placed 5th, Vegas Stealth in 6th place, and Las Vegas Heat placed 7th. Each team that participated was awarded a cash donation determined by a percentage of their total registration money raised to assist their team with the costs associated with the sport.
